1. Egg selection

Fertilized eggs are used as breeding eggs (if the ratio of rooster and hen reaches 1:7, the eggs laid can be used as breeding eggs). Generally, eggs with a production time of 7 days can be used. If the production time is longer, then The lower the hatchability.

2. Disinfection

Disinfect the poultry incubator, then put the head of the egg up on the chicken egg tray, and then mix potassium permanganate and formaldehyde (formalin solution) in a ratio of 1:2 for fumigation. Before disinfection, the temperature needs to be raised above 20°C, because the effect of low-temperature disinfection is relatively poor.

Disinfection of Eggs

First, prepare two pots of warm water at about 30 degrees, put the eggs in a pot of clean water, and clean the feces outside the eggshells. When cleaning, gently wipe with water, not too hard, so as not to damage the eggshell. The ratio of another pot of water to potassium permanganate is 1000:1. After the potassium permanganate is put into the clean water, first stir the potassium permanganate evenly by hand, and then put the cleaned eggs in another pot containing high-potassium permanganate. Soak in the disinfection water of potassium manganate for about 50 seconds, and the time should not exceed 1 minute. After disinfection, take out the eggs and put them aside, and let them dry naturally (do not wipe the eggs). After drying, put them into the chicken egg incubator to start hatching.

If you don’t know how to disinfect, if the eggs are dirty, you can use warm water at about 30 degrees to gently scrub the feces and soil outside the eggshells. Be careful not to use too much force to avoid breaking the eggshells. If the eggshells are not very dirty, you don’t need to disinfect them.

I have no experience in first disinfection. It is recommended that half of the eggs be sterilized and the other half not be sterilized. Mark the sterilized eggs. Because of the first disinfection, if the measurement is not well grasped, the whole army will be wiped out. After the batch is hatched, See which hatching effect is better between the sterilized and non-sterilized ones. If the sterilized ones hatch well, the disinfection process is correct. If it is not good, the measurement is not mastered.

3. Temperature and humidity

What is the temperature and humidity of the chicken incubator?

Use the constant temperature method for incubation, and the temperature can generally be kept at 37.8°C.

For 1-7 days of incubation, the humidity should be controlled at 60-65%; for 8-18 days of incubation, the humidity should be controlled at 50-55%; for 19-21 days of incubation, the humidity should be controlled at 65-70%.

4. Ventilation

The carbon dioxide content in the air around the embryonic eggs is usually required to be less than 0.5%. If the carbon dioxide content is higher than 1%, the embryos will develop slowly and the mortality rate will be high, resulting in an increase in the number of weak chicks.

5. Turn the eggs and dry the eggs

1-18 days before hatching, turn the eggs every 2 hours.

When turning the eggs, dry the eggs at the same time. If the hatching conditions are more suitable, you don't need to dry the eggs. When hatching eggs in summer, the eggs must be dried when the temperature reaches above 30°C.

6. According to eggs

On the 5th day of the white egg and the 7th day of the brown egg, the first egg candling is carried out. The seamless eggs, dead sperm eggs, and blood ring eggs should be removed in time. For the third time, the temperature and humidity can be adjusted according to the development of the eggs.

7. Hatching

On the 18th day of hatching, the chicks will generally start to peck their shells. At this time, the eggs can be moved to the hatching basket, and the baby chicks can break their shells in the poultry hatcher basket.

If most of the chicks still have a small number of eggs that have not yet broken their shells (but there is a cry inside the egg), artificial midwifery is required. The method is to lightly tap the eggshell with your hands. If you hear an empty sound, it means that The blood vessels are dry.

During midwifery, the head of the chick can be gently pulled out to make it slowly emerge from the shell. If the chick is connected to the egg membrane, it can be soaked in warm water, and then the eggshell is lightly peeled off. If the chick bleeds during the period, midwifery should be stopped immediately.

How suitable are the temperature and humidity for hatching chicks?

1. The time required to hatch chicks is usually about 21 days, in which the temperature on the first 6 days of incubation can be controlled at 38.5°C, the temperature on the 7th to 14th days of incubation can be controlled at 38°C, and the temperature on the 15th day of incubation can be controlled It can be controlled at 37.9°C, and the temperature on the 16th-21st day of incubation can be controlled at 37.3-37.5°C.

2.In the early stage of hatching (days 1-7), the relative humidity can be kept at 60-70%; in the middle and late stages of hatching (days 8-16), the relative humidity can be kept at 50-55%; After the 17th day), the relative humidity can be maintained at 65-70%.

3. Do a good job of ventilation during the incubation period. The embryos in the egg begin to breathe with their lungs in the later stage of incubation, and the demand for oxygen and the nitrogen dioxide emitted begin to increase. At this time, it is appropriate to increase ventilation and keep the air fresh. Normal hatching of eggs is more favorable.
